Green Mission: High School Students from Tyup District Learned How to Save Nature and Birds

5-6 of March the specialists from the СAMР Alatoo РF held a seminar for high school students from the villages of Toguz-Bulak, Sary-Bulun, and Intymak, located near the "Kushtar" wetland micro-reserve in the Tyup District of Issyk-Kul Region.

The students received interactive lectures and presentations explaining how they can contribute to the preservation of animals and birds. СAMР Alatoo РF specialists provided practical advice on bioengineering activities, such as setting up artificial nests and bird feeders and using different types of bird feed. This information is especially relevant for the students, as they live in the area of the "Kushtar" micro-reserve, which is home to rare and Red-Listed bird species of Kyrgyzstan, such as the swan, beautiful crane, and eagles.

Additionally, the students learned about the system of protected natural areas in Kyrgyzstan. The speakers noted that the country is among the 200 most important ecological regions globally, boasting 2% of the world’s flora and 3% of its fauna, despite its small territory. The seminar also touched on newer forms of protected areas, like micro-reserves, which are managed by local communities. Examples of such areas include "Bayboosun," "Zhargylchak," and "Kushtar."

At the end of the seminar, the "Birds – Our Friends" competition was announced. From March 21 to April 1, 2025, participants will need to carry out bioengineering activities, such as making and installing bird feeders, nesting boxes, and planting food plants for birds. The entire process should be recorded on video and submitted for evaluation by the jury. Special attention will be given to the originality and practicality of the designs.

The goal of the competition is to develop eco-culture among the youth, foster a responsible attitude toward nature and birds, and help students develop practical skills in creating conditions for nesting and feeding birds. Winners will receive valuable prizes, and the best works will be installed in the "Kushtar" micro-reserve.
