В Бишкеке обсудили развитие региональной платформы GREEN CA

Development of the GREEN CA Regional Platform Discussed in Bishkek

28 September 2025

At the office of the СAMР Alatoo PF, a meeting of the regional team of the project “Promoting Regional Cooperation on Integrated Land Use through Strengthening the GREEN CA Network” took place. The participants included members of the GREEN CA administrative group, representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), independent experts, as well as network members from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Independent expert Anne Firse, who has accompanied the development and improvement of GREEN CA over the past years, emphasized that the purpose of the event was to discuss further actions to enhance the platform, building on achievements and lessons learned. “GREEN CA should not remain a project with limited time and resources. This initiative exists with the support of the administrative group and aims to strengthen interregional expert connections and experience exchange,” she noted.

The GREEN CA network was established in 2019 by the СAMР Alatoo PF (Kyrgyzstan) and the Ecomuseum (Karaganda, Kazakhstan). In 2022, the initiative received support from the GIZ program “Integrated Land Use in Central Asia Considering Climate Change” (ILUCA) and has since been actively developing, bringing together experts in ecology, natural resources, and climate change from Central Asian countries.

ILUCA Program Manager Daniel Gerecke noted that GIZ’s support for the creation and operation of the expert network was driven by the challenges facing the region, which require joint solutions.

GREEN CA has organized several regional-level events aimed at raising awareness about the network, attracting experts, and discussing and selecting the forms of its activities.

Operating as an “open network” since 2024, GREEN CA now represents a modern online communication platform. It hosts an expert database with resumes, publishes thematic news, scientific articles, announcements of tenders and competitions, and conducts webinars. A distinctive feature of the platform is that content is created by the experts themselves, while the administrative team provides technical and organizational support.

Maria Tyuryushcheva (Ecomuseum) presented platform statistics. Currently, about 150 experts are registered, one-third of whom actively publish materials. The site has received over 13,500 visits (an average of 1,125 per month) and supports 12 working groups where thematic issues are discussed. Participants noted that this is a good result for a platform publishing highly specialized content for its audience, while also agreeing that the number of visitors and active users should be increased.

During a brainstorming session, they suggested ways to expand the audience, including promoting the platform at regional conferences, updating the website interface, simplifying new participant registration, and other measures.

In addition, the participants discussed further approaches and tools for the network’s work, as well as the activities and composition of the administrative group.
