Managing Pastures in the Digital Era

Specialists from the PF CAMP Alatoo have trained members of pasture committees in the Osh region in the use of a digital tool for livestock grazing planning.

The Electronic Zhayyt Committee (EZC) was developed by the PF CAMP Alatoo to create a database of livestock owners, shepherds, domestic animals, etc., at the village level and to automatically process the received information, which will simplify the preparation of pasture management plans in the future.

Members of pasture committees from the villages of Kashka-Suu, Zhekendi, Lenin, Sary-Tash, and Korul of Alay district participated in the training sessions. The training combined theoretical and practical sessions. Trainers introduced participants to the technical parameters of the EZC and demonstrated its use on the computer, as well as provided support in creating a personal account and filling in the basic sections of the pasture committee profile in the EZC system.

Participants realized that the EZC is a multifunctional tool that allows solving complex tasks. The EZC independently calculates pasture capacity and load, tracks livestock dynamics, budget collection, etc., and automatically generates grazing tickets with deadlines and areas, exchanges information between the committee and government agencies, in particular, the Department of Pastures under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The training was organized within the framework of cooperation with the Mountain Societies Development Support Program (MSDSP), an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation.
