Our colleague, Erkinbek Koichumanov, passed away suddenly and untimely on November 21, 2025. To say that this is a heavy loss would be an understatement. None of us could have imagined that in a single moment we would lose a comrade, a colleague, and a highly skilled specialist… People like him are truly irreplaceable.
Erkinbek built over a hundred bridges in the most remote regions of the country. Without his ability to connect with people, his professional expertise in the technical aspects of construction, and his courage to take responsibility for the strength of bridges and the safety of people, much of this work simply would not have been possible. People turned to him for help, knowing that he would come and do everything as needed. We, too, never doubted him. Especially remarkable was when Erkinbek mastered a complex GIS system on his own. Thanks to his work, the maps and data essential for our land and forestry projects were always accurate and reliable.
Erkinbek had many plans and ideas. He was preparing a project in which he wanted to demonstrate himself as a hydromeliorator — following his first specialty, which he received at KNAU named after K. I. Skryabin. He loved his work and always strove to move forward.
Erkinbek possessed a clear inner light and rare harmony. His “iron” nerves and calmness amid our hectic work routine always amazed us.
Kind-hearted, with a subtle sense of humor, and a master at telling funny stories — this is how he will remain in our memory. It is difficult to find words to describe our pain and the emptiness left behind.
The bridges he built and the work to which he devoted his heart will serve people for many years. May his memory be eternal.
