The CAMP Alatoo PF has presented its annual Zhanyl Kozhomuratova Award to representatives of local communities actively advancing the principles of environmental education.
This year, by the decision of the Foundation, the award was given to educators from the Issyk-Kul region — Gulmira Beksultanova, a methodologist from the Jeti-Oguz district, and Zhyparkul Kurmanalieva, a biology teacher at Zh. Zhapar Secondary School in the village of Ak-Terek.
The educators were recognized for their collaboration within the project component “Environmental Education” and their participation in activities aimed at strengthening teachers’ competencies and students’ knowledge of natural resources, climate, and wildlife.
The award ceremony took place in the village of Kyzyl-Suu, as part of the Teacher’s Day celebration. The event was attended by the Minister of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, who emphasized the importance of teaching students to value and protect natural resources, especially water.
“Developing environmental awareness, hygiene, and care for the environment is an integral part of modern education. Teachers need to move forward in this direction, enriching school curricula with real-life examples,” noted the Minister.
During the ceremony, Gulmira Beksultanova received the statuette and a letter of appreciation from CAMP Alatoo PF Salamat Dzhumabaeva, Program Manager for Water Resources Conservation highlighted her significant contribution to improving the quality of education and supporting teachers and schools through methodological assistance:
“Thanks to her creativity, initiative, and dedication, teachers and students have learned the principles of sustainable development and the importance of protecting and loving nature,” she said.
The award for Zhyparkul Kurmanalieva will be presented later this month during a Training of Trainers (ToT) session.
Another recipient of the Zhanyl Kozhomuratova Award was a team of volunteers who helped design the eco-trail concept for the Kushtar Microreserve and participated in organizing BirdFest-2025. Their award ceremony is scheduled for December 5, 2025, on International Volunteer Day.
The Zhanyl Kozhomuratova Award was established by CAMP Alatoo PF to honor community members and organizations actively engaged in project initiatives and making a significant contribution to the conservation of natural resources, wildlife, and the promotion of environmental education in Kyrgyzstan.
