Specialists from the CAMP Alatoo PF took part in a two-day workshop held in Khujand, Tajikistan. The event was organized for approximately 25 participants, including local community representatives from the border villages of Samat (Kyrgyzstan) and Ittifoq (Tajikistan), local partners, and the donor organization Mission East, which are jointly implementing a cross-border project aimed at improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
The main objective of the meeting was to review the progress achieved, discuss post-project sustainability plans, and exchange experiences in hygiene and conflict prevention.
On the first day, participants analyzed ongoing project activities and engaged in practical group work. Particular attention was paid to the long-term operation and maintenance of water supply systems, as well as community disaster preparedness based on knowledge gained in disaster risk reduction. Dedicated sessions focused on the effective management of shared natural resources along the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, conflict sensitivity principles, and the development of skills for conflict-sensitive communication.
The second day’s agenda featured a study tour, which allowed participants to exchange best practices directly at the project sites.
Such initiatives foster trust, strengthen cooperation between cross-border communities, and provide a platform for open dialogue, joint problem-solving, and building good-neighborly relations that contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
