CAMP Alatoo РF Participates in the International Conference on Glacier Preservation

From May 29 to June 1, 2025, the International Conference on Glacier Preservation is taking place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event serves as a global platform for urgent dialogue, scientific solutions, and coordinated efforts to protect glaciers and the local communities that depend on them.

The goal of the conference is to bring the issue of glacier melting to the forefront of the global climate agenda and to support the implementation of UN resolutions declaring 2025 the International Year of Glacier Preservation and the Decade of Cryosphere Science (2025–2034).

Specialists from the CAMP Alatoo PF are participating in the conference, engaging with experts from around the world to discuss scientific approaches, practical measures, and necessary policy solutions for preserving glaciers and increasing the resilience of glacier-dependent communities. This is especially relevant, as the Foundation’s work focuses on improving the lives of people in mountainous regions already experiencing the effects of climate change.

The conference also addresses key issues such as the development of glacier science and monitoring, the socio-economic consequences of glacier retreat, community adaptation and risk reduction, raising public awareness, and strengthening international partnerships and attention to challenges caused by global glacier melt.

The program includes plenary sessions, leaders’ roundtables, thematic discussions, cultural events, and pre-conference forums held on May 29. During these forums, representatives of CAMP Alatoo PF exchanged knowledge and experience in the search for solutions at the intersection of science and practice.

The conference brings together high-level representatives of governments, international organizations, scientists, NGOs, and the private sector. The outcome of the event will be the development of coordinated approaches to glacier preservation — a vital source of freshwater and climate stability.
