In late October 2025, Dushanbe hosted a landmark conference that officially launched the One Health Regional Program in Central Asia. The PF CAMP Alatoo participated in the event as a key partner in the project's implementation in Kyrgyzstan.
The conference was organized with the support of the Government of Tajikistan, the World Bank, CAREC (Central Asian Regional Environmental Centre), and the "Quadripartite Alliance" of organizations: FAO, UNEP, WHO, and WOAH (World Organisation for Animal Health). The meeting marked a significant step towards strengthening regional cooperation in the area of human, animal, and ecosystem health.
In addition to the official program launch, the conference aimed to:
Unite the political and expert resources of the region's countries and engage key stakeholders.
Facilitate the development of scientific cooperation and ensure Central Asian countries' access to global experience in this field.
The program included plenary and thematic sessions, as well as a scientific seminar where specialists from Central Asia and other countries presented research on antimicrobial resistance, the impact of climate on ecosystem health, and the integration of the One Health approach into educational programs.
"Participation in this conference reaffirms our commitment to the principles of One Health," noted Talant Toktosunov, One Health Project Coordinator at PF CAMP Alatoo. "This approach is directly linked to our work in nature conservation. Healthy ecosystems are a natural barrier that helps prevent pandemics and enhances the region's resilience to climate change and food security risks."
The main outcome of the meeting was the approval of the Regulation on the Regional Coordination Council and the development of the Secretariat's first work plan for the next year.
