“CAMP Alatoo” PF Participates in SYMBIOTIC Project Workshop in Nairobi

From September 14 to 18, 2026, Kenya hosted an international partner workshop for the project "Systemic learning and mainstreaming of Biodiversity Targets for Innovative Transformation and Behavioural Change" (SYMBIOTIC). Representatives from implementing organizations in Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Kyrgyzstan, and Indonesia gathered to discuss administrative and financial management mechanisms and coordinate future plans.

As previously reported, “CAMP Alatoo” PF became the project partner in Kyrgyzstan in September of this year.

During the workshop, partners shared their progress and discussed how to apply best practices adapted to each country's unique context. Special attention was given to developing the project’s digital infrastructure, including the creation of a unified learning platform, joint online courses, and the launch of the new SYMBIOTIC website.

In the communications session, experts focused on storytelling—sharing the project's impact through human-centered stories—and working with "biodiversity champions," opinion leaders and eco-activists promoting the conservation agenda at local and national levels.

The practical part of the meeting featured a field visit to the Lukenya Wildlife Conservancy, a protected area and nature reserve located approximately 30–40 km from Nairobi. Participants explored Kenya's experience in co-managed conservation, where ecosystem protection is closely integrated with local community involvement and support.

Over the course of five days, the partners approved work plans for the upcoming period and updated guidelines for monitoring, reporting, and environmental protection.
