The PF "CAMP Alatoo" is implementing technological solutions to monitor areas within specially protected natural territories managed by local communities. As part of this initiative, surveillance systems, including video cameras and camera traps, are being installed throughout the protected areas. The primary goal of this equipment is to detect instances of poaching and illegal activities, as well as to monitor populations of wild animals and birds.
In the "Yntymak" wetland reserve in the Issyk-Kul region, two video cameras have been installed on a 5-hectare coastal area leased by the "Kushtar Jammaty" society for the development of ecotourism and the conservation of biodiversity, particularly avifauna. These cameras operate on solar power and provide real-time data, offering an advantage over traditional camera traps. The use of such "smart" technology reduces the need for human presence and relies on renewable solar energy.
However, like any equipment, these systems can encounter technical issues. In the "Yntymak" protected area, the video cameras were unable to maintain their charge during low ambient temperatures. During monitoring, specialists from PF "CAMP Alatoo" decided to address this issue by upgrading the equipment and installing a heating system.
Conducting monitoring and testing of such equipment allows for the study of its technical characteristics and the selection of the most optimal options that combine technological advancements with nature conservation objectives.
