Adaptation to climate change

Energy efficiency

CAMP Alatoo is a pioneering force in the development and dissemination of innovative energy-efficient solutions. We also provide training for masters in home insulation and facilitate access to financing for home insulation in rural areas. The Foundation has established production of energy-efficient and clean stoves and low-pressure boilers, the "Zhalyn", on the basis of a workshop opened in Bishkek in 2020. Thanks to the mini-production concept, the cost of stoves has been reduced, which allows the population to benefit from affordable technologies. The Foundation also fulfils the objectives and functions of raising awareness among rural communities about sustainable energy use and generation.

Energy efficiency in the context of climate change adaptation is defined as the ability to use energy in the most optimal and effective way to achieve the goals of minimising negative environmental impacts and increasing resilience to the effects of climate change.

Approaches:

  • Educational programmes and information campaigns raise public awareness of the need for rational energy use and sustainable practices.
  • Reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by modernising and improving the energy performance of residential buildings.
  • Integration of clean and sustainable energy solutions into the grid will reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce the impact on the environment.
  • Introducing financial measures and mechanisms to stimulate and promote energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
  • Demonstrate the importance of implementing insulation and renewable energy measures through continuous monitoring of buildings.

Tools:

  • Carrying out training and information campaigns on energy saving in households.
  • Demonstrating successful examples of energy efficient buildings.
  • Insulating walls and roofs, replacing windows and doors with energy efficient ones.
  • Installing high efficiency heating, ventilation and lighting systems.
  • Establishing revolving funds to provide interest-free loans for energy-efficient technologies.
  • Developing recommendations on standards and building regulations that foster energy efficiency.
  • Regular gas analysis measurements of pollutant emissions. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the adapted measures and their adjustment if deemed necessary.
  • Developing models for energy-efficient cookers as well as low-pressure boilers for space heating with minimum emissions.
