The project was implemented in several directions: (1) raising awareness among stakeholders on the implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification through the National Action Plan; (2) establishing tree nurseries; (3) introducing modern approaches for efficient land use; (4) increasing the knowledge of students and teachers on gardening and establishing mini-tree nurseries at schools.
The project was aimed to protect land from degradation by introducing nursery technologies in Chui and Talas oblasts.
Training of representatives of forest farms and private entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to apply soil and water conservation technologies and ways to prevent land degradation;
Establishment of four tree nurseries with a total area of eight hectares on the territories of the Frunze and Talas forestry and two private gardening farms in the Chui and Talas regions. As well as planting there 27,000 clonal tree stocks of dwarf and semi-dwarf apple trees, more than 3000 seedlings of fruit, coniferous and ornamental trees species;
Conducting training courses for teachers and pupils on planting trees and shaping small nurseries in schools;
Provision of motor-block and materials for fencing nurseries to Frunze and Talas Forestry and a private farm in Talas oblast.
