UNICEF supports countries in achieving their national immunization goals. Achieving these goals requires strong Immunization Supply Chain Management (ISCM) systems, which should be regularly evaluated and improved as part of the Effective Vaccine Management Assessment process.
The goals of ISCM are to ensure sufficient supply for each immunization session, to avoid temperature violations, and to minimize cost per fully immunized child. In order to ensure vaccine effectiveness and safe immunization practices, it is important to strengthen the cold chain and maintain cold chain equipment (OCSE) to meet the various cold chain and vaccine storage requirements. The procurement of cold chain equipment for the country is currently underway; the quantity and requirements for purchased cold chain equipment have been developed using the Supply Sizing Tool. In addition, Kyrgyzstan will pass the next phase of vaccine management performance evaluation in 2022, and as such, it is essential that the country's cold chain is prepared for this phase of evaluation.
