The project aims to restore these degraded rangelands and floodplain forests in the border area of the Chong-Alai district through the implementation of accessible nature-based solutions. The initiative relies on the active participation of local communities, the establishment of a local seed fund, and joint decision-making, allowing for the simultaneous achievement of environmental sustainability and the strengthening of social trust in the region.
To demonstrate scalable and community-managed nature-based solutions (including floodplain forest restoration and sustainable agriculture) that comprehensively integrate land restoration, climate resilience, social cohesion, and regional cooperation in Central Asia.
Key Objectives
Restoration of 17 hectares of degraded ecosystems, including rangelands and floodplain forests.
Engagement of 10 local communities and institutions (Courts of Elders/Aksakals, Women's Councils, youth committees), as well as 50 households (with at least 40% led by women).
Ensuring the active participation of 50 key stakeholders in project management.
